Holga photos from around Stirling

For ages now, I’ve been waiting and waiting for some light. Yep..any light will do, but for the last week it’s been so miserable in Scotland that it’s beyond overcast.  Thinking my 400 speed film (coupled with the fixed shutter speed of the Holga) wouldn’t be good enough for the terrible lack of any light, I have been waiting and waiting to go and take some photos (I even ordered some 800 film to use, but it has yet to arrive!).

Last night and today I gave up waiting, and went for a few walks.  For those that don’t know, a 120 film for the Holga has only 12 exposures, so you either need a.lots of film, or b.to pick shots carefully.   I had to go with b. as I only had 2 rolls (I’ve got loads of 100 film but I doubt that’s going to work with these conditions, although I’m going to a ceildh tonight and that’s all I’ve got left, so it’s going to be interest to say the least!I will take extra batteries for the flash!).

The results weren’t too bad, I got them dev’d and put onto a CD at Film1 in Stirling (brilliant shop), all for a £7, and done in an hour (although I originally just got them dev’d, and was going to scan them at work, but the scanner only does 35mm negs, or 120/medium transparancies..doh!).

Anyway, here are some of them…enjoy! (click on the photo for larger).

Hi Durkin, cool site, will go and sniff around now. Great idea with the forum, flickr discussions can get a bit annoying!

I’ve just stumbled across your page here. I love your photos, especially the hallowe’en mask with the double exposure. Quick question! where is Film1 in Stirling? I’m looking for a place nearby that develops 120 film for my Holga… Thank you!

    Hi Elizabeth,

Photo 1 is on Port Street, just opposite Zingermans restaurant. They are pretty good and charge around £4 to develop(c41 only),scan and put on CD . Quality is pretty good, and they are a friendly bunch :-)

Do you have a flickr account? I’d love to see your photos once they are developed!

    Hi Andrew,
Didn’t see your answer there until now! Thanks, I’ll try Photo 1. When I get the photos developed, I’ll put them on flickr and let you know, I haven’t used my account in ages. These will be the first Holga photos I’ve taken so I’ve got no idea how they’ll look, but we’ll see…!
    Thanks, Elizabeth
