Magnum Magnum-THE great photojournalism book

ok, yes, I did waste a frame of 120 film taking that picture, and no,it wasnt even staged: that book does sit on that table, and we were drinking wine at the time!

Last year The Magnum Photograpy Cooperative launched a collection of their work in hardback form, spanning 60 years of some of the greatest photos ever taken by the most famous photo-journalism agency in the world. Alas, the book was out of reach for us mere mortals, costing close to £200 ($400) (the RRP was close to £100, but you couldn’t get it for that anywhere).

But never fear, as Magnum Magum has just been re-released for the grand sum of £21 !

Many people know the Magnum Cooperative from the big name ‘stars’ such as Robert Capa (and THAT photo of the Spanish Soldier dieing in action), who was Magnum’s president for 3 years before stepping on a landmine in Indo-China, but there are fantastic ‘lesser known’ photojournalists when you delve deeper into the massive volume.

If you buy one book this year, make sure it’s Magnum Magnum, or even better: give it as a gift for christmas!

Some stolen photos that I’m probably going to get sued for showing here (dear magnum: please don’t sue me), click on the photograph to be taken to that photograper’s portfolio:
