New Official Holga Site: Holga Inspire

I’ve always wondered how the holga can be so popular yet have very little web-coverage from the manufacturer. The cameras appear in little blue boxes from Hong Kong, with very little information apart from a small moneky logo and an anonymous instruction sheet(a bit different from the marketeers over at Lomographic Society International who manage to cram as much LSI stuff down your neck as possible).

Well I don’t have to wonder anymore. The manufacturer of Holgas now have their own website!

www.holgainspire.com has been created by Holga Limited, a company of the Universal Electronics / Tokina Group. Their aim is to promote the holga, including events, showcases, product descriptions etc.

Here’s the lowdown:

With the help of some of the world’s best photographers we have assembled a gallery of impressive images, all taken with Holga cameras, which we hope will inspire you as much as they inspire us.

To connect, communicate, and create we all need inspiration. There is more to come, in resources, knowhow and creative discourse. Keep coming back to our site. Watch our vision unfold, and inspire us with yours.

Sounds great! We look forward to seeing what Holga Limited have in store. It’s a big step forward in the right direction for the manufacturers, who for far too long have missed massive marketing opportunities for a product that has become an incredibly popular product.

www.holgainspire.com is one to watch!

Fun in the Sun-Printing

Some time late last year (OK, Christmas), I got a present called “Sun-Print Paper”. This stuff is basically sold as a “toy” to parents who probably want their kids to get off their console, get out the house, and take in some Sunshine or else.

How to make Cog-Pano’s on your Holga

First things first. The image above was shot on my Holga, and I only manipulated digitally by way of turning it black & white and adding my copyright symbol. Otherwise, this is shown exactly as it was shot, with the image stretching its way across the film plain in a nice wide panoramic and covering [...]
