Capt’n Derek emailed me last night from somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic, with details of a new challenge on Flickr:
The back story is that a thread on Holga started by someone asking if people ever shot a whole roll to tell or story, or that had a theme rather then 12 pictures that didn’t tie in or relate to each other. I thought it would make a neat Holga group, so we started one. We’re going a monthly competition type thing and to kick it off I offered up a pro-pack of expired Portra 400UC film. This month’s theme is landscapes, but that’s pretty much open for people to integrate anyway they want to, I don’t plan on disqualifying anyone and it’s going to be judged by members of the group.
Sounds like a excellent idea!
Bit more blurb, due to my sheer laziness in writing anything original today!
Every month the winner from the last challenge will pick a theme. The theme or storyline should be captured on 1 roll with at least 6 6×6 exposures or 8 6×4.5exposures in color or black and white. No post editing software should be used (exceptto resize if needed), keep it real, no fake x pro, no b&w conversions, fake sepia tone, cropping etc…
The Theme for March, by the way is ‘Landscape’. A nice easy one to set you off.
Go forth and take part!
Edit: I forgot to put the link in, here’s the link to the group:
