@megan If I fall in love with the Diana+ I'll probably invest in the deluxe kit because I like all the fun stuff it comes with and would like to have a flash. It may be a bit overpriced but it's still less then a new lense or flash for my dSLR :) I want to try the sprocket hole thing again, I did it in my Brownie but got interesting results because my mask for the window wasn't opaque. Woops.

@Arnee A more scientific comparison would be cool. They have a lot of same but different qualities.

@Andrew I saw that, it gave me a boner. I miss "instant film" it's so damn expensive though.

On another note, I got through my first roll on the Diana+ (processed myself I might ad). The Holga (Dorothy) and the D+ both are loaded with expired Kodak 400 UC and awaiting some free time. Most likely will do the shoot on Friday.

Great article. I was about to do a technical side-to-side comparison of Holga & Diana F+. I own both of them and they're both laying in front of me on my desk, awaiting some free time. Technically speaking, there are things to compare, but also you're right that lighting, composition & just some luck may contribute more to an image than knowing that you shoot on 1/60 or 1/100 sec. Looking forward to your round two...

As an avid user of both various models of the Holga and also various models of the Diana (two original clones and two Diana F+) I would have to say that I also encourage personal experimentation with the two. That is why I have several :) I will say that even though LSI has marked up the F+ ridiculously, it is so worth is for the flash capability. It will fit any flash with the kit. Also, I love the interchangeable lens system - even though the effects of all the lenses they sell can be achieved through fairly simple hacks without paying the huge price - they are still fun and convenient if you feel the inclination.

I'm looking forward to the results of you test. I always like looking at the comparison. There are more differences than I think people realize most of the time. I can't wait to see the outcome!
