Holgablog, in association with Holga Inspire brings you an exciting new competition! You have the chance to win ANY holga camera in the entire holga catalogue (you can see most of them in our recent holga guide).
The writers@holgablog and staff@holgainspire have been agonizing and debating for weeks to decide the format of the competition, and we have finally come to our decision!
The Competition
The competition will take a photojournalistic approach. You submit at least 6 photographs (or the links to the photos to save our inbox from exploding!) in addition to a story. The story can be non-fiction or fiction, it can be an account of how you took the photographs, or an account of what is happening in the photographs (For example,imagine the article ‘when candids go wrong‘, but with more photos!), or even a fictional story or poem with relevent photographs. Let your imagination run wild, or take a step back and submit something journalistic, the choice is yours!
The bottom line is you have to submit at least 6 photographs along with a piece of writing. The writing has to be linked in some way to the photographs. That’s it!
Sounds easy, there’s rules…right?
Not too many, the main rule is that your photographs have to be taken with a film camera. No digital allowed. Your stories and photographs will be judged as a ‘whole’ (i.e the story and photographs together) by the holgablog writers and holga inspire staff. The winner’s photographs and story will be posted on holgablog, and the runners up will also be posted in subsequent weeks.
How do I enter?
Just email comp@holgablog.com with your story and either attach the photographs or insert links in the email to the photographs you want. The closing date is the 31st May 2009, so you hopefully have lots of time to take some photographs and get them developed.

The Smallprint
All entries must be made before 23.59GMT 31st May 2009. The judging will be made the following week by holgablog writers and the holga inspire staff. The judges decision is final. You retain ALL rights to your photographs and story, but by entering, you give us permission to post them on holgablog. The prize is any holga camera manufactured by Holga Ltd, and will be supplied directly by Holga Ltd at a date to be determined.

Just emailed my story and photo links! Great competition, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this website before now!!
So does the Holga TLR count? It’s new I know, but I figured I’d ask. Also, when will the postings be made public?
Hi Jeff, that’s a good question. I presume you should be able to choose a TLR if you win the competition as it is now in production.
Our plan is to start the judging process this week, with a view to announce the winner in another weeks time. After that we will probably release a story every week, starting with the winner.
