Holga TLR..An Update

A few people have asked for a bit more info about the new Holga TLR, so here it is! We’ve got one it’s way from Holga Ltd to put through the rigourous testing procedures we have in place here at Holgablog (when I say rigourous I mean accidently dropping it in a cup of tea and seeing if it still works!), so expect a test shortly.

The insides of the Holga TLR are identical to the standard 120 series of Holgas. It has the same masks, the same film advance dial, and the same back.  The flash has been moved to the side to accomodate the new TLR lens and viewfinder.Speaking of the flash, it’s the standard colour-wheel flash to be found on the CFN.

There are 2 confirmed versions: the 120 TLR and the 120 GTLR, with the GTLR being the glass lens-equppied TLR.

As we edited into our previous article on the TLR,the Holga 120 TLR is currently just being test-marketed in the local Hong Kong market, with the export-market following shortly. More information and publicitiy will follow once they have turned their attention to the export market.

But for now, here’s a sneak peak at the diagram from the instruction manual, and some photographs, expect a full test within a few weeks.

This is a 120 format camera with added flexibility and convenience resulting from the unique twin lens view finder feature which enables view finding to be carried out in both the horizontal and vertical directions.

Too bad it’s a pseudo tlr, and the viewfinder is round…

Paul, the shape of the viewfinder doesn’t make it pseudo “twin lens reflex”, simply means it has two lenses, however the fact that you can’t use the viewfinder to focus makes it a “pseudo tlr”, only different from a regular holga in aesthetics.. unless I’m wrong and you can focus through the viewfinder, i recommend not buying it, unless you prefer this style of viewfinder, or simply want it because of the aesthetic quality.

Love Holgas to death but what’s the point of it? Doesn’t do anything a 120 GCFN can’t do and it’s overpriced.

Fun in the Sun-Printing

Some time late last year (OK, Christmas), I got a present called “Sun-Print Paper”. This stuff is basically sold as a “toy” to parents who probably want their kids to get off their console, get out the house, and take in some Sunshine or else.

How to make Cog-Pano’s on your Holga

First things first. The image above was shot on my Holga, and I only manipulated digitally by way of turning it black & white and adding my copyright symbol. Otherwise, this is shown exactly as it was shot, with the image stretching its way across the film plain in a nice wide panoramic and covering [...]
