Like the Blackbird Fly?
Like obscure Japanese pop culture references?
Well you’re in the right place!
Superheadz Japan have just released a PINK Blackbird, Fly to tie in with the Japanese show KAMEN RIDER DECADE, in which a Blackbird, Fly is featured. With no plans to release the camera outwith Japan, our sponsors have managed to get their mitts on only 50 of the pink cameras to sell in the US. The camera also comes with a leather strap and film holster!
Here’s the bizarro intro to it!
And the blurb about the camera.
NEW from Japan – the merging of photography and Japanese pop culture!
Introducing the Extremely Limited Edition “Kamen Rider Decade” Blackbird Fly 35mm TLR! It’s the only Blackbird Fly camera that comes in pink, inspired by the Japanese fantasy TV show “Kamen Rider Decade”.
At the beginning of this year, a new TV show aired in Japan that would carry on the long tradition of the “Kamen Rider” franchise. That show was “Kamen Rider Decade”—which, unknown to Powershovel, the Blackbird, fly’s manufacturer, was about to give the camera a publicly visible boost. This is because the show’s main character actually uses a Blackbird, fly in the show itself!
Now here’s where things get a little funny. In the show, the main character’s superhero costume is largely pink. However, there was no pink version of theBlackbird, fly out at the time, so the “Kamen Rider” producers simply took an existing Blackbird, fly and painted it pink, to match the costume. You can see that camera here in the opening credits to the show:
The resulting attention this camera brought convinced Powershovel to produce a limited edition run of a pink Blackbird Fly. Of those, only 50 have made it to the States, making the “Kamen Rider Decade” Blackbird, fly an extremely rare instant collector’s item. Since it appeals to both photographers and fans of Asian pop culture, it is quite possible that you will never encounter this camera again once it’s sold out. So don’t wait!
It’s certainly an eyecatching camera. The camera itself is no different from the normal BBF, just, well…pink!
You’d certainly get a lot of attention on the street shooting with this camera, we’d love to see some photos of anyone who has one!

Comments
i’ll admit, i like the pink!
Is it such an masterpiece that the price is still high, or it is oriented only to very rich clients. I mean, even cheaper ToyCam enthusiasts who develop any film are still richer than those who shoot digital, because of neverending processing costs, but still – plastic should be cheaper…
Ok, after reading whole text it took me to funny decision – paint my Holga pink (lol)… wait… but I could get an factory painted pink Holga for the price of good paint. And it will still be collectable. I am no Jap so hard to understand, still
