Lady GaGa + Polaroid=??

That’s Lady Gaga above, if you didn’t realise!  Polaroid have announced they have teamed up with Lady Gaga to release some Gagapolaroid products.  Out of all the creative team ups over the years, that is one I didn’t see coming.

As per usual with this type of news, the interwebs is up in arms, with the die hard polaroid users eating their own packfilm in disgust, yet younger ‘hipsters’ welcoming this bizarre teamup!  Where do you lie? I’m personally indifferent, Polaroid isn’t exactly the juggernaut of instant film anymore, it’s just a name. We don’t even know if they will release anything instant-film-related with the Gaga brand. More than likely it will be just some other polaroid junk like digital photo frames or the pogo printer.

I guess only time will tell.  What are your views? Good thing? Bad thing? Indifferent?

The partnership with Lady Gaga is the most recent in a string of partner announcements by PLR IP Holdings, LLC (PLR), the new owner of the Polaroid brand. In the past six months, PLR has assembled a family of Polaroid partners for product development, marketing distribution and licensing. Building upon Polaroid’s rich history, the Polaroid partner network will support fans and users of classic Polaroid products and deliver new Polaroid products to a new generation of Polaroid customers while staying true to Polaroid’s long-standing values of fun and simplicity.

New products by Polaroid and Lady Gaga are to hit retail shelves starting in late 2010.

I really don’t care. I don’t see a reason to get upset about it, but I certainly don’t see a reason to be excited either.

I don’t care as long as the products are good.

Never mind all that, see here for some vague news on using the Impossible Project’s film for a wood-panelled Polaroid…

Personally though, I’d like to see more celebrities get on board with camera design. Special edition Diana Ross Diana+? Harry Hill Holga? Bring it.

this is probably good. if she can help polaroid in some way by connecting her name to them and let them make some profit (to spend on instand cameras & film!!!) then go ahead~

I agree, who cares so long as the product is good. I can’t help but think she’s more interested in marketing herself than polaroid but maybe I’m an old cynic.

Fun in the Sun-Printing

Some time late last year (OK, Christmas), I got a present called “Sun-Print Paper”. This stuff is basically sold as a “toy” to parents who probably want their kids to get off their console, get out the house, and take in some Sunshine or else.

How to make Cog-Pano’s on your Holga

First things first. The image above was shot on my Holga, and I only manipulated digitally by way of turning it black & white and adding my copyright symbol. Otherwise, this is shown exactly as it was shot, with the image stretching its way across the film plain in a nice wide panoramic and covering [...]
